[Oh noooo, moderately compassionate touching, his truest weakness. The next huff that escapes him is somewhere between frustrated and upset.]
I don't know what to do. What am I meant to say, eh? I don't... I don't think I regret what I did back home, but I- I dunno about here. I was angry when I got back, alright? Everythin' went to shite. Maybe, maybe I took some of that out on yeh.
[He's not the only one who's frustrated and upset, and as much as Eccarius would love to tell Cassidy what to do, he also realizes that ultimately that's not going to work and would probably lead to Cassidy turning on him again.]
I don't know what you're meant to say or do. I think you need to figure that out for yourself. Decide what's important.
[Eccarius actually has a point that Cassidy finds hard to argue. It was Cass that preached the exact same thing to the Children of Blood only weeks ago. Immortals like them can't dwell on the past for long without going mad.]
Off y'go then.
[There's no more protest from Cassidy, but he watches as Eccarius leaves with a slow lower of his eyebrows. He's got no clue what he wants or what he should do, but he knows he doesn't want to let this go just yet.
It takes a couple of attempts at it, but eventually Cass manages to shapeshift into something resembling a raccoon, a little scrawny and mangy but it'll do. Eccarius gets a head start, but a few minutes later, he's scurrying out of an open window and bounding after him, slinking through the shadows and stumbling during any attempts made to climb.]
[Turning his face away might help to keep him from crying. Maybe.]
...Right.
[Aside from Cassidy displaying some extra strength when they fought, Eccarius has no clue that he'd come back with powers on a par with his own, not having any experience to speak of with the Porter and its power games. Leaving the house, he sets off at a brisk pace, eschewing flying for a change, not noticing when he gains a small furry shadow.]
[He'd never considered until this day just how swift people can move on just two legs. Little thing that he is, he sure can book it on all fours but it's effort, he scurries and hops and ducks and scampers, all with the goal to keep Eccarius in his sights no matter what, but shit, he's going to need a whiskey after this.
By the time they're at the Porter, he's panting heavily, waiting for the other to get through before he follows in. The staff don't even question a talking raccoon, it's not even close to the strangest thing they've seen from imPorts.]
[All things considered, Eccarius would really rather not use the Porter; it's a little bit too syfy for this old man, but thankfully it's over with quickly enough. Leaving the military base, at that point he opts to fly, his destination far enough from it to discourage walking. His bag doesn't hamper that really; he's carried a full grown man with him in the past after all. :c]
[Cass scrambles out of the porter just in time to see Eccarius fly off, staring for a second with a slow dread in the pit of his stomach.]
Oh, c'mon now! That's not...
[That's not fair and totally cheating, but fuck it, he's been practising a little, he can but try. He manages something resembling a raven, because ravens are fucking bad ass, and while his flying skills with wings are atrocious, once he's airbourne there's a whole lot less things to hit or bounce off. Eccarius got a head start, but he's easy enough to spot without everything blocking his sight lines. Birds eye view really is a benefit, who'd have thought.
He recognises some of the neighbourhoods they pass over, even recognises the route they're taking. But surely they wouldn't be going where he thinks they're going.]
[HDU a raven is his primary bird-form, huff. Not that he's using it right now of course, as carrying the duffel bag would be awkward. At some point he thinks he heard someone swear...? But turning, all he sees is a rather pathetic looking bird.
Eventually he lands in front of an apartment building, produces a key and disappears inside.]
[Look, he's only tried a few animals so far, he's got a limited pool to draw from! Just be flattered by the copying, clearly it just means Eccarius and ravens are worth copying. Perhaps a city pigeon would have been a more apt choice considering Cassidy's complete lack of coordination and dumbness.
He loses sight of Eccarius once he drops between the buildings, but by now Cassidy has his suspicions on where he's headed. There's only one imPort Cass knows that lives around these parts and it's an apartment he's visited himself a few times.
Of course he totally misses the door opening, too busy playing catch up and crash landing in an awkward flurry of feathers, but once he gets himself sorted he somehow, somehow, through sheer force of will alone, manages to get himself up to and settled on the right window. A scruffy little raccoon gripping onto the ledge with nimble little fingers as he bangs a paw against the thick glass.]
[Peering back is a really scrawny, patchy furred raccoon, flattened against the window sill with a paw pressed against the glass. It'd be a pretty good photo op for any animal charity because it looks kind of pathetic.]
I'll be honest, mate, I didn't think this through.
[So maybe this isn't the best way to display his new powers, or stalk his ex, or interact with his ex in general. Honestly this is a pretty dumb scenario all around but, like he said, he didn't think this through.
Still, who can resist a fluffy raccoon face pressing up against a window? Surely not such a kind hearted soul like Eccarius?!]
You gonna let me in the window, there? I don't much fancy me chances gettin' back down.
[He's honestly this close to retorting 'you got yourself up here; you can get yourself down,' especially given that attitude, which is not exactly endearing, cute fluffiness aside.
In the end however, his curiosity gets the best of him and he unlocks and opens the window, although he doesn't look particularly happy about it.]
[He clambers in with all the grace and coordination one can expect from Cassidy, which is to say "not much", especially having to deal with new fluffy limbs, a tail and paws.
The attitude is hard to prevent when he's full of bristling defensiveness of his own dumb actions, but as he finally dusts himself off after having flopped onto the floor, he can't help but let his fluffy shoulders slump with a sigh.]
I just... I wanted to know you were doin' alright. Like, that you'd found some place nice.
[Upon closer examination, it's amazing how much the animal resembles Cassidy while still looking like a raccoon; a little scrawny and mangy... there are probably tattoos under that fur.]
I find that a little hard to believe, actually. A more plausible story would be that any concern you might have is for my benefactor, given your questions earlier.
[What, you never seen a tattooed raccoon before?!]
Alright, fine, maybe that was part of it. But jaysus, mate, if you've shacked yourself up with Raina, I think it's you I need to be worryin' about, not her.
[He can't help a soft chuckle as he swaggers waddles on hind legs through the room, perfectly familiar with the layout of the apartment.]
Honestly though, I'm glad for yeh, really I am. She's a good lady.

[Which is why his diet frequently just consists of booze and tranquillisers.]

[He sighs.] I can't be the one to convince you. We both know how well that's worked in the past.
no subject
I don't think it's convincin' I need, man. I need-- I dunno, what I need. Honesty? Bit of bloody warnin' next time?
no subject
Warning? About what? It wasn't I who snatched you away for a memory update.
no subject
Not that! The murder, y'bleedin' eejit. Save us all a whole lot of time if yeh came out with it off the bat.
[And following it up with a quiet mumble of:] Save us a whole lot of heartache too.
no subject
Seriously???
Give you a warning before the 'next time' I kill someone, and you'll be good with that?
no subject
If you'd told me earlier though, I could straight up fecked off. Wouldn't have...
[Got so attached, even in such a short space of time.]
Y'know. We woulda been like passin' ships or some shite.
no subject
I thought you were talking about what you want in the future. Dwelling on the past and what ifs is pointless don't you think?
[Yeah, going now.]
